Joint issues are becoming increasingly prevalent, particularly in weight-bearing joints such as the hip, knee, and ankle in the lower limb. Degenerative arthritis is a common problem among the elderly, while cartilage and meniscal tears may occur in young, active individuals. Additionally, various other pathologies like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic disorders can affect joints, leading to decreased joint function. The upper limb joints, such as the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, are also vulnerable to joint issues, potentially resulting in loss of ability to perform daily activities.
Treatment Options
The bones in our body, primarily the long bones, support and stabilize major joints, allowing for joint mobility. They also serve as attachment points for muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Despite efforts to prevent it, osteopenia and osteoporosis, which can weaken the bones, remain common concerns for aging populations, especially those suffering from joint degeneration. To manage orthopaedic symptoms effectively, a comprehensive approach is necessary, including joint replacement surgery if necessary, in addition to addressing systemic conditions.
